The New Zealand justice authorizes to extradite to Kim Dotcom to EE UU

The founder of Megaupload and its three partners will be tried there for alleged fraud and violation of copyright

The Court of Appeals of New Zealand has endorsed this Thursday that the founder of Megaupload, Kim Dotcom, is extradited to the United States to face the charges imposed against him for alleged fraud and violation of copyright.

The decision thus resolves the appeal filed by Dotcom and ratifies the ruling issued by another court in 2017, which dictated that the extradition process could be launched.

US authorities have indicated that both Dotcom and three other executives of the file exchange platform - also accused - have caused losses of about 500 million dollars to film studios and record labels in the country.

In addition, these would have generated more than 175 million dollars in profits by getting some users to pay to store and share the material that would be subject to copyright.

The defendant's lawyers have indicated that he will file an appeal with the Supreme Court of New Zealand, where he has been detained since January 2012.
