Telefónica finalizes an agreement with Netflix to integrate its contents in Movistar



The pact would be added to the one recently reached by the Spanish company with Disney


    Telefónica is finalizing an agreement with the US company Netflix that will allow Movistar + subscribers to access its contents through the platform of the Spanish operator, Efe confirmed sources familiar with the talks.

When the operation is closed, as El Español and El Confidencial have advanced, Movistar + subscribers will be able to watch the Netflix series and movies without having to use the application of the US platform.

     The sources consulted have explained that Telefónica's intention is that the agreement does not only imply introducing an additional button on the Movistar + platform to access Netflix, but also to provide a new global experience for users. Vodafone customers can now access Netflix and HBO through their platforms.

According to El Confidencial, the two companies have a principle of agreement but they still have to negotiate "the contractual nuances and the price strategy". According to this newspaper, the agreement could be announced in February, although the commercial entry into force would not occur until after the summer.

This agreement would be added to that recently reached by Telefónica with Disney in its bid to have the highest quality content and most demanded by users.
