Spotify Lite: saving data reaches music
Spotify Lite: saving data reaches music
The application, which can be accessed with the same account as in the original version, weighs only 15 MB
Spotify fans are in luck. The application -whose main problem was the large consumption of mobile data- has decided to launch a new, lighter app to the market, which reduces the consumption of user data.
The new application, which is still in its beta version (development), is nothing more than a reduced version of what we can find in Spotify. Its great advantage is, without doubt, the saving of data , because it has the option of establishing a monthly limit of consumption by establishing amounts between 250 MB and 3 GB.
Another virtue of this new version is that it has a weight of only 15 MB, which allows a smaller storage space is needed to download the application, a great contrast with the original that has a size of 100 MB.
Spotify Lite has the Spotify originality certificate, so any user registered in the original application, both with a free subscription and with a Premium subscription (for a fee), can access the Lite version with the same account.
Limitations
The menus change, or rather -as the whole application- are reduced, while in Spotify any user has the windows Start, Explore, Search, Radio and Library, the Lite version only has the tabs Start, Explore and Favorites. Therefore, the new application does not allow you to create a playlist of your own, but it does facilitate access to recent playlists, songs marked as favorites or recommendations based on playback history.
The adjustments also change in this new format, while Spotify had the data saving options, the new version does not have this option, since it has integrated a reduction of them. Leave the audio quality options, because by default the new version will have quality audio dependent on the connection condition.
Another of the limitations that appear is that it does not allow listening to any song in a playlist , but has the only option to randomly play the entire list without being able to choose which song to start with. In addition to this, users who do not access through a Premium account can only spend six songs during one hour.
Currently the application can only be installed from Google Play in Brazil, while in Spain we will have to wait for its release or download the application from the Internet and install it to check if it is a success or users prefer to opt for the traditional version.
