Spaniards get tired of Facebook

The agency has developed an analysis of the use of Facebook by Spanish users during the last five years, revealing that the platform has lost weight in Spanish society and that it even lost a million users in 2017 with respect to the previous year.
Facebook grew in active users by 14% between 2016 and 2017 in Spain and invoiced 47% more. These data are based on the end of 2017 and do not take into account the global stagnation in the number of active users of the social network announced this Wednesday, which they maintain at 1,470 million against the forecasts of 1,490.
The annual report on the use of social networks in Spain indicates that the number of Facebook users in Spain has gone from 20 to 23 million between 2014 and 2017, which means an increase of 15%, although between 2016 and 2017 it took place, the first time, a decline of one million users compared to 24 million the previous year, which represents a drop of 4.16%.
On the other hand, the average age of Facebook users has been increasing with the passage of time, since in 2016 63% of its users were between 18 and 40 years of age; On the other hand, in 2018, the figure for the range of 18 to 40 years has fallen, occupying 52% of users.
The time Spaniards spend on Facebook has experienced a 31% drop between 2014 and 2017, with one hour and three minutes a day, according to IAB Spain data. With 153 minutes a day, Spaniards spend more time on WhatsApp than on Facebook.
