Singapore disconnects its hospitals for an attack

In June they stole data from 1.5 million patients

Singapore has taken a drastic decision and has taken the decision to disconnect all computers in the health sector of the Internet to prevent further theft of information, after the cyber attack suffered last June.

This was announced byTeo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, on Monday the disconnection of the teams, a task that this Tuesday had already been completed.

The security problems in hospitals began last June, when a group of hackers stole the information of more than 1.5 million patients from Singapore, a quarter of the population, including prescriptions for drugs from the prime minister.

The government of this state has defined this event as a "deliberate, selective and well-planned cyber attack".

Chee Hean, meanwhile, has acknowledged that the government should have implemented the separation of Internet browsing in the health sector, a measure implemented in other sectors of society.

With this formula the chain of cyber attacks would have been interrupted and its dimensions reduced, he assures. The disconnection will cause "some inconveniences for patients and health personnel," the politician has admitted.
