In Google «salaries are proposed by an algorithm» to avoid wage gap
In any selection process there must be a woman interviewing and parity at the level of candidates interviewed
The general director of Google for Spain and Portugal, Fuencisla Clemares, has revealed that in Google, as a good technological company, "salaries are proposed by an algorithm" to avoid salary discrimination in the workforce by gender. "Each boss receives the proposal of wage increase and salary of his employees based on an algorithm where the sex of the person is not part of the data given to the algorithm and where what is considered is what position has, what level , what has been its evaluation, what objectives it had and what it has achieved and is the algorithm itself proposes the rise and salary scheme of each employee every year, "he explained.
In addition, detailed Clemares during an informative breakfast in Madrid, collect groups and analyze whether this wage difference is actually occurring by gender or not, although he has specified that in the analyzes they have done, they have not detected that difference. "If it did arise, what should be done is to deepen and understand why it is happening," he added.
He also pointed out that in any selection process there must be a woman interviewing and parity at the level of candidates interviewed. "And if you do not find women, you look for them, and when you search, you end up finding them," he stressed.
At the promotion level, he said, the promotion ratios are checked to see if they are fair or not and if they are not, analyze what happens. "You have to make a plan and be on top to make sure that there is no discrimination," added Clemares, who said that Google is "100 percent convinced that there should be no salary gap" and work to make it so.
