The search engine launches tool that facilitates the search of data in tables
Google has introduced changes to its algorithm and has launched a new tool that seeks to facilitate the search of data on its platform. This change presents the results in structured data tables that show relevant information on the subject in a more visual way and that are based on statistics collected by news organizations.
This change comes after starting a collaboration with thirty journalists and experts in data processing and that is part of the initiative that seeks to facilitate access to data Google News Initiative, as published by Google on its official blog.
The purpose of this new function is to make it easier for users to find the data they are looking for quickly through data tables, which highlight relevant data such as economic data of a company, and replace the previous system that showed a text from directly from the page under each result.
For the operation of this feature, Google uses data from news and data organizations such as the US ProPublica, which allows the inclusion of additional information through structured data tables that are filled in independently. Companies should contact Google to participate in this initiative.
This structured data is added to the existing HTML address of the middle page, so the organization maintains control over the data and its form of presentation, as explained by Google.
The new feature is used to filter the huge amount of data that appears in each table published on the Web, and makes them more accessible by searching. This solves the difficulties that the Google browser had both to find the requested data and to interpret them correctly.
