According to the study, Facebook users in 2017 have reached 23 million people, thus reversing their growth trend three consecutive years. In 2014, the social network brought together 20 million people; 22 million, in 2015; and 24 million, in 2016.
For its part, Twitter has maintained a constant increase in users in the last four years, going from the 3.5 million profiles in 2014 to reaching 4.9 million in 2017. In the case of Instagram, the increase has been remarkable, reaching 13 million users in three years. In 2015, it accounted for 7.4 and in 2016, a total of 9.6 million users.
Likewise, the research points out that, in quantitative terms, Madrid continues to be the city with the largest number of profiles on Facebook (3.1 million profiles), Twitter (560,512 profiles) and Instagram (1.8 million profiles).
Regarding the cities with the most Facebook profiles, after the capital, there are Barcelona (2.3 million), Seville (1.1 million) and Valencia (980,000). In relation to the age of the profiles in each social network, the study concludes that Facebook is the most intergenerational, with very similar figures among those under 39 (52%) and those over 40 (42%); whereas Instagram is in which 'millennials' abound (up to 65% of the profiles are between 18 and 39 years old).
