The concrete filtering has been the source code of the iBoot of iOS 9 , a little trivial matter since it is the program in charge of which the operating system starts with total confidence. However, Apple stresses that "it is a quite old-fashioned code", so it reassures users. "Our devices have several layers of integrated protections," they added.

However, the code corresponds to the version of iOS 9, not the current iOS 11 containing the updated iPhone. However, it would still contain some lines of code from the old version.

The leak has bothered the offices of Cupertino (United States) and has asked GitHub, where the published code was, to remove all the information.

Apple has accepted the Copyright Law of the Digital Age (DMCA), claiming that the published files distribute a copyrighted code without the owner's authorization .

"It is a reproduction of the source code of Apple's iBoot, which is responsible for ensuring the reliable boot operation of Apple's iOS software," explain Apple's lawyers in the note sent to Github. "The iBoot source code is proprietary and includes the Apple copyright notice, it is not open source."
